Meet Vanessa 





Vanessa J. Henderson is an Integrative Nutrition Health & Wellness Coach and Consultant.  She empowers people to lead healthier, happier, fulfilled lives by making better food and lifestyle choices and holding them accountable so that they can achieve their vision for their health.  In her practice, she works one-on-one with private clients, leads group detoxes and weight-loss programs, and delivers nutrition and wellness presentations to corporations and universities.  She creates customizable health coaching programs with sustainable strategies to help individuals have more energy, manage their stress, maintain their weight and reach their health goals with ease.

Vanessa’s approach to nutrition is holistic, which means that she believes that many things in our lives that nourish us and contribute to our health; our lifestyle, environment, physical activity, spirituality, relationships and mentality.  True health is about much more than simply diet and exercise.  It requires balancing all the different aspects of life to nourish your mind, body and spirit. She works with clients to create lasting change and transformation by offering support and accountability.


 Vanessa’s Story 



Vanessa reached her highest weight gain ever, when she went away to college. Motivated and determined to lose the weight, she went down the path of trying every imaginable solution. She counted calories, tried the popular diet trends, TV weight loss products, and even the unhealthy, unwise options like diet pills and skipping meals. Just like many of us, having a burning desire and a goal did not change Vanessa’s unhealthy lifestyle choices. For years after her college experience she continued to choose an unbalanced lifestyle that included eating out at restaurants more and more, energizing off of candy and coffee, choosing rich, heavy meals, eating late at night, with moderate exercise and physical activity. Of course this led to even more weight gain.  And again the cycle began; quick fixes, weight loss pills, and temporary results that were not sustained, then back to the unhealthy lifestyle choices. Sound familiar? 

Vanessa finally realized that weightloss is not only about exercising and managing what you eat, but changing your mentality and lifestyle. From experience Vanessa knows the stress, frustration and challenges that comes with trying to lose weight. She took action. She enrolled in the world’s largest nutrition school, the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, and changed her life. Soon Vanessa discovered a new mentality that gave her a new perspective on weight loss and a new outlook on life. 

Vanessa began to embrace new ideas, like leading a natural and healthy lifestyle. She gained an appreciation for whole foods, and the idea of nourishment– actually nourishing, feeding and healing the body with food. She opened up to the concept of making health a daily priority despite the busyness and demands of life. There was a shift in Vanessa. She was more inspired, motivated and driven that ever! Vanessa began feeling fantastic. She was losing weight and keeping it off! She gained energy, a heightened sense of health and wellbeing, and she felt empowered. Now, she got rolling! Vanessa gained momentum and began creating new strategies and coming up with some of her own tips to expand this new, healthy lifestyle she loved. What an amazing rush!

Vanessa’s new empowered state of being prompted her to make her healthy lifestyle a career, and use her experiences to motivate and empower others.  Based on her own experiences, she helps people learn how to make better food and lifestyle choices so that they can live a healthier, more vibrant and energized life.  She delivers Corporate Wellness Presentations and works one-on-one with clients who want to take control of their health, have more energy, be more productive and lose those last 5-10lbs without deprivation or calorie counting. She also helps people to detox with ease, get rid of the bloating and learn how to eat the right foods for their bodies.

Vanessa’s new endeavor is to target the youth and get them motivated about their health and wellness. She has designed presentations, similar to her corporate offerings, to offer health and wellness to high schools and universities.

Vanessa now leads a life of passion and does what she loves to do for a living.

She holds a B.A. in Risk Management and Insurance from St. John’s University and she also holds a Holistic MBA. She received her training from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in New York, where she studied more than one hundred dietary theories and a variety of practical lifestyle and stress management techniques, innovative coaching methods and corporate wellness. Some of her many teachers include Dr. Andrew Weil, Dr. Mark Hyman, Dr. Barry Sears, Dr. Deepak Chopra, David Wolfe, Annemarie Colbin, Dr. Dean Ornish, Dr. Joel Fuhrman, Dr. Neal Barnard, Howard Lyman, Dr. Harville Hendrix, Dr. David Katz, Dr. Walter Willet, Randi Dukoff and Andrea Beaman.  She is also trained in the Transformational Coaching Methodology.

She has extensive knowledge in corporate wellness programs, holistic nutrition, health coaching and preventive health and wellness.
