I grew up putting ketchup on my rice.  I couldn’t eat mac and cheese without barbeque sauce.  And whenever I ate a salad, I loved putting the “Italian” dressing or ordering Caesar dressing.  Later on in life, I discovered that these sauces were full of sugar and high fructose corn syrup and unhealthy ingredients.  That definitely, contributed to my weight gain and my weight loss resistance.  #SoFrustrating.

Fast Forward to 2016 – where I’m much more aware and conscious of the foods and sauces I consume, I discovered this delicious recipe from friends (Kevin & Aneliya) who hosted a yummy lunch over the weekend….so I had to share this life-changing dressing / sauce / marinade with you.

Green Goddess Dressing / Sauce / Marinade / EVERYTHING!

  • 1 ½ cups plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 cup packed basil leaves
  • 2 garlic cloves, peeled
  • ¼ cup packed chives
  • 1 scallion, white and green parts
  • Finely grated zest and juice of 1 lemon or lime
  • 2 teaspoons coarse Himalayan salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, for drizzling

  1. In a blender (I use the Ninja Auto IQ), purée yogurt, basil, garlic, chives, scallion, lemon/lime zest and juice, Himalayan salt and pepper until smooth.
  2. The mix is Ready to Serve as a Salad Dressing or Dipping Sauce for Veggies
  3. Or…you can pour it on your meat to marinate for 3-5 hours in the refrigerator.
  4. Enjoy and Share with Friends.
